Sometimes you just gotta laugh...

This is one of the bridges we have to cross. They are actually building a new bridge when we came through that day. This bridges is a dream compared to some of the others we have crossed.

On Tuesday night we did not get to eat chicken tacos. We couldn't find salsa or tortillas. That night we used left overs for our dinner. We did watch the Bolliwood movie and it was stupid. We also were able to find a channel on the TV that actually had two programs that were in English. It was actually news so we could do a little updating ourselves on the activities of the world and a show about people competing against each other cutting hair. We were grateful for a night off so we could relax.

Wednesday we taught English once again. My foot actually fell of the 2 X 4 we cross to get to the school. I thought that water was gross but little did I know it was only going to the prepare me for Thursday adventure. That night we were able to get our salsa and tortillas. We also went to the City Mall and ate Sushi again with some other people we know in the city. Below is a picture of the Sushi we have eaten.

Thursday was another day of teaching. We started off the day as usual. There has been a new kid there the last couple of days. He seems to be Autistic but he is the sweetest kid. He seemed to take a liking to me because he only wants to stand next to be and hardly ever lets go. Sometimes he has me wrap my arms around him and other times he just wants to hold my hand. During the break I asked two of the kids if they would show me their homes. Off we went into the unknown. I had no idea that the places these kids live are held together by tinny bridges that are barley nailed together. We have crossed some scary bridges but none of us have ever fallen in. Today was the day that all that changed. I was being pulled in a couple different directions and the little girl that was pulling me from the front lost her footing and the started to fall into a nasty black gunky water. Since she was pulling me it was only natural for me to fall in with her. The bridge even collapsed in some parts. All of the kids just stood there and stared at us. By the time I got back up on the bridge my feet were pitch black and a few spots of the gunky on my pants. The little girl literally rolled around in the gunk and she was covered. She looked so pitiful. It was hilarious when you look back on the situation. The kids rushed to get me water to wash my feet off and wanted to make sure I was OK. They didn't care about the little girl. I was more concerned with cleaning her off then myself. The rest of the day all the kids wanted to know if I was OK.

We finally did get to eat our chicken tacos for lunch. We had planned to see Transformers today but of course all that changed because some wanted to play indoor futsol (soccer) tonight. It is OK though. We seem to be learning a lot about making plans. We have to be flexible here but sometimes you just get frustrated because you are trying to build relationships with people and then other people change our plans. It has been a learning process for all of us.

This is a picture of some of the kids we teach on Saturday afternoons.

This is from Monday and these people were looking for Clams or Oysters. They gave us an opportunity to try to find some for them.

Please continue to pray for us. We are at a point where we are getting frustrated with each other and stuff that it going on. We are getting excited to come home soon. It will be nice when our clothes are really clean and not crunchy after drying and when we can sleep in our own beds.

Love all of ya.
