Is there a monsoon out there?????

Hello my faithful Blog followers!!

This is probably going to be the last blog update for a while. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is our last teaching assignment. Yippee!!! We are going to be getting ready to travel for a week. We will be going snorkeling and checking out the Orangutans. We are excited for this break before we get ready to head home.

Let me tell you a little about what has gone on since I fell into the gunky poopy water. :)

Friday we had the morning off. It was nice to sleep in and just hang around the apartment. That afternoon we traveled to a remote village and visited the people there. We were going to climb over a mountain (hill) to watch the sunset from a secluded beach however the Lord had other plans. As we traveling to the village it decided to rain. It did let up for a couple of minutes as we got out of the car and talked to some of the men in the village. When we decided to go ahead and walk to another lady's house the sky opened up and it started to pour. We all huddled into a small covering with no walls and waited for the rain to pass.

We decided to climb over the rocks and walk around to the beach. The guys went ahead of us girls to see how far the secluded beach was. While we were waiting for the guys to come back 2 men arrived in a boat. We looked like we had been stranded on the beach so we thought at first they were coming to see if we were OK. We also thought they might be pirates! They were only coming to pick up the wood they were using to build a boat. As we got ready to head back to the car a storm rolled in out of nowhere. We used our Sarongs as umbrellas.

Saturday was our last day teaching on the island. We decided to spend the night on the island to hang out a little longer with the children. We enjoyed a relaxing morning at the apartment before we headed to catch a bus to the city. After we all arrived at the port the sky opened up and it poured for about 45 minutes. It had only stopped raining the boat driver decided it was time for us to go. We were about half way there and it started to pour. The wind was blowing and the water was really rough. As we were getting out the boat I handed my backpack off to someone already on the dock and then it was time for me to get on the dock. As I was getting up a wave came along with the wind and I almost fell into the ocean. It probably would have been more relaxing in the water because at least it was warm water compared to the cold hard rain falling. Normally we take our time walking on the unsteady bridge but we ran this time. By the time we arrived at the Chief's house we were soaked! We changed our clothes and went out to help with the games the kids were playing. We were asked to help hand out the prizes for the kids.

Every where we went that night the kids followed. They couldn't believe that we were spending the night. Not many white people (tourist) come out to the island. They walked us out to the different peoples houses. That night we didn't sleep much. All 3 of us squeezed into a double bed for the night. I slept hanging off the bed for the entire night. As we were trying to get some sleep dogs keep barking and fighting outside. In the morning it was the roosters crowing. The chief's wife fed us breakfast and went out to visit with some of the people in the village. We did a short time of prayer amongst ourselves before we visited and taught for the last time. The kids led down the dock to catch a boat back to the city. One little girl cried as she had to say good-bye to me. She had been attached all weekend and everywhere I went, she also went.

We slept good Sunday night and went to bed early.

Monday was our last time teaching a school near our apartment. We had the kids make salvation bracelets. The kids really enjoyed making them. We explained to them what all the colors stood for. This is the only school that we can talk about religion at so we know that someone can help them if they have questions. The rest of the day we are spending in the city. We are picking up underwater cameras, last minute souvenirs and talking to several people that we have met while we have been here.

Please continue to pray for us as we travel around the island and we get ready to head home. Can't wait to see everyone in about 2 weeks.

Love ya
